Golden Bantic began as a solo project in early 2016. Writing and recording tracks in his bedroom and releasing his music via Soundcloud, Logan McKelvey quickly gained recognition from BBC Introducing and performed a live session for BBC Radio Cambridgeshire in August 2016. Here, the project began to develop as McKelvey pursued a more guitar-led sound, whilst maintaining the electronic elements which characterised early releases ‘Gecko’ and ‘Pi’. Bringing other musicians on board, McKelvey, already working with Juan Coquet (drums) added Harvey Simpson (bass guitar) and Luke Cooper (guitar) as their groove-driven sound evolved to complement McKelvey’s intelligent and untempered lyricism.

Alex Forrest (saxophone, keyboards) features on the bands 2017 singles and, although currently studying abroad, frequently joins the live line up, adding a touch of funk to the band’s energetic and varied live show.

Golden Bantic enjoyed a busy summer 2017, earning a slot at the last ever ‘Secret Garden Party’ as well as BBC Radio 1 airtime and main stage performances at local festivals.

Wrapping up 2017 with the release of a trilogy of new singles: ‘Teapot’, ‘Billy’ and ‘Pink’, the band are planning a mini-tour in the south of the UK alongside festival appearances in summer 2018.
